Community Services/Shelter Assistant– Scott Place
Job Summary

Provide administrative assistance to the Homeless and CSBG programs; essentially purchasing, procurement, requisitions, inventory, and payment of services for various programs operated at Scott Place Shelter (SPS) in Marion County. Maintenance of program finance records, including tracking of all expenditures on County tracking forms. Adhere to program reporting procedures and maintain certifications as required.

Education Experience

Minimum of high school diploma or GED with documented prior experience working in
an office environment assisting the public.

Job Requirements/ Responsibilities

Provide administrative assistance to the Homeless Services Program Manager. Petty Cash Custodian-responsible for maintaining and reconciling petty cash funds and expenditures. Help with compiling reports to corporate office and individual funding sources. Assist with record keeping, budgeting, and scheduled maintenance for the NCWVCAA Next Step Supportive Housing units. Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventories for office, custodial, and equipment supplies. Maintenance of the county CSBG and Shelter budgets including monthly reconciliation of expenses and income in each budgetary item. Maintain program finance records such as requisitions, process bills and blanket purchases, reconcile billing statements, and prepare payment paperwork as per agency purchasing procedures. Process emergency assistance vouchers for clients. Be able to provide own transportation; carry adequate insurance coverage; Criminal Background Check; Protective Services Record Check. Must be willing to travel and attend required meetings. The desire to work toward the success of low-income families. The ability to successfully organize, communicate, and manage well under pressure. Be a self-starter and positive team member.

License/Training/Certifications

Valid Driver's License. Must obtain a CPR/FA card along with any further certifications,
License, or permits as required by the Homeless and CSBG programs.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee occasionally is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and listen and communicate verbally and in written form. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Can walk up and down 20+ steps, 4 or more times daily.
