Behavior Support is responsible for assisting in implementation of classroom or child behavior plans under the guidance of the Mental Health Program Specialist.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field with experience in working with preschool children and children with social and emotional delays. A minimum of one (1) year early childhood teaching experience preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, drive an automobile, talk, and hear. The employee must be able to occasionally lift, carry, or assist children weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work hours as assigned by Children Services Supervisor; occasional evening/weekend hours and overnight travel as required. Valid driver's license; vehicle with adequate insurance coverage for on-the-job use; safe driving record; State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check; Sex Offender Registry Check; Protective Services Record Check; initial Health Assessment and required updates; TB Risk Assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method; CPR/FA Card; food handler’s card. Understanding of and ability to relate to three and four-year old’s and their parents; Experience working with children in a Pre-K classroom.
General skills necessary to perform your job functions: mathematical, spelling, grammar, organizational, communication skills, record keeping, and computer skills. Project a positive image of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program; function well within varying socio-economic groups; establishes a good rapport with clients and all staff; is flexible in adjusting plans to changes and emergencies; keep supervisor and appropriate staff informed of workload and developments; submit reports as required; attend, facilitate, and participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences relating to job function; maintain professional and ethical behavior at all times; adhere to all safety, conduct rules/regulations, policies, local, state, and federal mandates; complies with all HS Performance Standards and Head Start Act; adhere to NCWVCAA Employee Guidelines; demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts.
