Responsible for providing support to staff as assigned by the Head Start Administration and coordinating completion of projects aligning with organizational goals and compliance standards. Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex, responsible, and confidential programmatic duties requiring a thorough knowledge of organizational procedures and precedents; provides program support to designated staff members, and performs related work as required.
Minimum of an associate degree from an accredited college/university in business, finance, or a related field plus at least three years of progressively responsible office, administrative or clerical experience. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, drive an automobile, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 15 pounds.
Typical work hours Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm unless 4 day/10-hour schedule is approved; occasional evening/weekend hours and overnight travel as required. Valid driver's license; vehicle with adequate insurance coverage for on-the-job use; safe driving record; State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check; Sex Offender Registry Check; Protective Services Record Check; initial Health Assessment and required updates; TB Risk Assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method; food handler’s card.
General skills necessary to perform your job functions: strong independent judgement skills to plan, coordinate, organize, prioritize, and solve problems; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn and use agency-specific software; excellent oral and written communication; strong mathematical, spelling, grammar, and recordkeeping skills; ability to project a positive image of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program and establish positive relationships across varying socio-economic groups; establishes a good rapport with clients and all staff; flexible to adapt to program needs, changes and emergencies; keep supervisor and appropriate staff informed of workload and developments; submit reports as required; attend, facilitate, and participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences relating to job function; maintain professional and ethical behavior at all times; adhere to all safety, conduct rules/regulations, policies, local, state, and federal mandates; complies with all HS Performance Standards and Head Start Act; adhere to NCWVCAA Employee Guidelines; demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, subordinates, and/or outside contacts.
