Works to assist veterans & veteran families to enroll in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families housing program. Works closely with local landlords and rental properties to locate and secure rental openings for enrolled clients. Works with participants to develop appropriate case plans and goals. Provides ongoing assessment and support, assist participants in the utilization of internal and community resources to meet the individual/family needs & secure appropriate permanent housing.
Bachelor's degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or another human services/social services applicable field AND/OR 2 years documented work experience providing case management, veteran services, family support &/or housing placement services, preferred.
*Associate degree in applicable field in conjunction with documented work experience may be considered in place of Bachelors.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, drive an automobile, talk, and hear. Communicate both verbally & in written form. Ability to walk up & down stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Valid Driver's License. Other certifications may be required for the position; should be obtained within the first 3-6 months of accepting position. *Some certifications are provided/paid for by employer. Social Work license preferred.
Be able to provide own transportation; carry adequate insurance coverage; Criminal Background Check; Protective Services Record Check. Ability to drive long distances. Day &/or overnight travel may be required for training purposes. The ability to successfully organize, communicate, and manage well under pressure. Excellent computer knowledge/ skills. Use of Microsoft Office Software/Products preferred. Professional use of telephone skills, working knowledge of various types of office equipment. Ability to work independently and as a team member and interact with people from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
