Mental Health Program Specialist
Description

Responsible for the system design, planning, guidance, support, and training, as well as the implementation and monitoring of Mental Health services and assisting in the coordination of Disability Services and assure compliance as outlined in the Head Start/Early Head Start Performance Standards, Head Start Act as well as other national and regional regulations and policies.

Education/Experience

Bachelor\'s Degree from accredited college/university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Behavioral Sciences.  Preschool teaching experience preferred.  One-year experience working with infant/toddlers, preschool children, and families in a professional setting.  Experience with disabilities, positive behavioral support, and/or behavioral management planning.  Master's degree preferred.

Job Requirement

Typical work hours Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:00 p.m. unless 4 days /10 hour schedule is approved; evening/weekend hours and overnight travel as needed; ability to travel from site to site providing own transportation; valid driver’s license; vehicle with adequate insurance coverage for on the job use; safe driving record; State and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check; Sex Offender Registry Check; Protective Services Record Check; initial Health Assessment and required updates; prior to hire TB Risk Assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method; Complete application for Career Pathway Registry (STARS) along with application for Trainer Registry.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employees occasionally are required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, drive an automobile, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 15 lbs.

License/Training/Certifications

Will obtain/maintain a Social Work License.  Preferred to possess a current license or certification as a Mental Health professional in the State of West Virginia.  (Minimum of a Licensed Professional Counselor-LPC or Licensed Graduate Social Work-LGSW).  Obtain/maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention Certified Instructor certification.
