Under the general supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, performs a variety of technical and administrative accounting work and applies accounting principles and methods in maintaining the fiscal records of the agency.
Bachelor's Degree with a business and accounting emphasis.
While performing the duties of this position, the person will need to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time and may be required to occasionally lift to 15 pounds of equipment or documentation.
Valid Driver's License. Be able to provide own transportation, adequate insurance coverage if vehicle needed for on-the-job use; Criminal Background Check; Protective Services Record Check; initial Health Assessment and required updates; TB Risk Assessment or TB screening by Mantoux method. Responsible for the preparation and input of financial data into the agency’s accounting system and performing functions to help ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of the agency’s accounting controls and records procedures. Ability to read and understand policies and procedures and other necessary items to perform job. Ability to communicate effectively orally and through written response. Ability to work independently as well as with others. Knowledge & application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Access, and Word. Possess oral and written communication skills and the ability to think analytically and logically to accurately prepare various accounting documents. Ability to learn and apply the various regulations and laws governing the accounting and funding procedures of non-profit corporations. Ability to learn the grant accounting software system utilized by the agency. Ability to learn the payroll software systems utilized by the agency. Primary responsibility is general ledger (GL) reconciliation performed monthly and grant/program tracking of spending. Included in grant tracking is the monthly performance of draws from grantors for funds. Additional duties include day-to-day Account Payables activities as well as performing journal entries as needed. Accountant will also assist Accounting Supervisor in Payroll processing.
